dormitory houses 220 campers and provides accommodations for guest ministers. The youth center is loaded with stuff to do...like cage basketball, pinball, video games, air hockey, pool, foosball, ping pong, and a snack bar. The FCFC main sanctuary also serves as the sanctuary for the Summer Scream services. The church's main building also provides the kitchen and dining hall used for camp. The goodness of God has been demonstrated in a miraculous way in the nearly 14 years of Summer Scream.
From humble beginnings in 1994 with 50 campers and a somewhat primitive and outdated facility to 1999 when our current, 6000 square ft. youth facility was completed - with all the amenities - including state-of-the-art facilities for youth meetings, a cage basketball court, video games, pool and foosball tables, and a full service snack bar.
By 2001 camp had grown to 170 youth and we were housed in our new 240-bed dormitory. We were fully operational on the grounds of FCFC with the one exception being that we bussed the kids to town for swimming.
Due to the overwhelming rate of growth, in 2002 we had to expand to two camps. We also added a lake for swimming, canoeing, and paddleboats. This was the first year we were 100% operational on the grounds of Faith Christian Family Church.
Summer Scream has continued to grow in number and in facility. Numbers have broken 500 campers and we have added new features every year (water slide in 2003, water trampoline, aqua launch and aqua log in 2004). Future plans are to build a swimming pool and a cafetorium. The cafetorium being a facility to eat in and to have services in.
Pastor Gary and Pastor Doug have never sacrificed quality in any area of our facility. This includes the high quality of guest speakers who have ministered to the youth. The list includes Mike Goolsbay, Dean Hawk, John George, Keith Nachbor, David Webb, Mark Pagley, Ray Hollis, Billy Dougoud, Monte Seaborn, and Kurt Brandt.
These individuals have brought a wide variety of ministry gifts to our camp. And we will continue to seek this type of quality youth ministry.
From 1994 to the present day, and on into the future, we have never lost sight of the primary purpose of the ministry behind Summer Scream. Which is to bring in the harvest and to teach the youth the essential components of growing up spiritually so they can enact their own youth revival.
